So, that's my father-in-law, Mark Gault, posing with some of his favorite toys for a Q&A that appeared in yesterday's New York Times. Yes, that New York Times. How cool is that??? Read fancypants NYT profile.

He and his wife, Laura, are SXSW's über-hosts for international bands. They have a gigantic house, pool, hot tub, tennis court, basketball hoop, and backyard stage and musicians from all over the world get to spend a week thanking God they're not eating a stale cheeseburger in a Motel 6. One time at band camp, indeed.

This year's lucky band is the Dirty Epics, an Irish quartet whose heavy pop sound should appeal to Pixies fans. In fact, on Tuesday at B.D. Riley's, they covered Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak" and The Stooges' "Search And Destroy." Yeah, that doesn't suck. Good people, good music, good times.
